Moving inventory checklist

Document your belongings before movers touch them

If furniture, electronics, boxes, or appliances are damaged or lost during a move, you need more than memory. AI-Temize helps you create a room-by-room inventory before move day, then export PDF and Excel reports if you need to file a moving insurance or damage claim.

Before packing

Photograph each room before boxes are sealed. Capture furniture condition, electronics, appliances, tools, and anything expensive enough that you would care if it disappeared.

Before loading

Take close-ups of scratches, dents, serial numbers, and fragile items. If the mover creates an inventory, keep your own independent photo-backed version too.

After delivery

Compare delivered items against your report. If something is missing or damaged, your PDF and spreadsheet give you a cleaner starting point for the claim.

What to document for a moving damage claim

  • Furniture condition before pickup
  • TVs, monitors, computers, and audio equipment
  • Appliances, tools, gym gear, and outdoor equipment
  • Box labels and photos of high-value box contents
  • Make, model, and serial numbers when visible
  • Replacement cost estimates for important items
  • Notes for existing damage vs. new damage
  • PDF and Excel copies for movers or insurers

Important limit

AI-Temize does not decide mover liability or coverage. Moving contracts, valuation coverage, renters insurance, homeowners insurance, and claim deadlines vary. Use the report as organized documentation and review your policy, bill of lading, and mover claim rules.
